"Javier is a PhD candidate from Madrid - Spain. He joined Schotsaert Lab in April 2023 for three months to study the outcomes of co-/superinfection of influenza virus and Streptococcus pneumoniae in mice.
Javier graduated in Biotechnology from the CEU San Pablo University, with a postgraduate certificate in Business of Biotechnology by the Graham School of the University of Chicago - Illinois, United States. He completed a Master’s degree in 2019 in Computational Biology at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM).
Javier's main interests are innate immunity, trained immunity in coinfection, and bioinformatics. He has experience analyzing sequencing data in the fields of metagenomics, whole genome sequencing, RNA Sequencing, epigenetics and proteomics.
When he is not at work, he loves watching and especially playing soccer. He sometimes plays the guitar and sings as a hobby, but never in public."
