Juan García-Bernalt Diego

"Juan is a Postdoctoral Fellow and joined the Schotsaert Lab in March 2023. He currently studies the effect of co-infections on immune responses to viral infections, and anti-viral vaccines in pre-clinical infection models. Juan received his B.S. in Biotechnology from the University of Salamanca (Spain) in 2017 and his M.S. in Biomolecules and Cell Dynamics from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain) in 2018. He defended his PhD in December 2022, carried out in the laboratory of Dr. Antonio Muro in the University of Salamanca, focusing on new point-of-care molecular diagnostic methods for infectious diseases. His main research interests are vaccines, respiratory viruses and neglected tropical diseases. In his free time he enjoys discovering new bands in music festivals and exploring the great outdoors."
